Research paper on âThe Healing aspects of Micro-tones of musical, astrological and psychical vibrationsâ connected through the universal principle of Spiral of fifths.
I have been researching into these aspects of âHealing Powerâ generated by the micro-tones in the realms of consciousness. What I have come to understand over two decades of my work entails a deeper understanding of wave-frequency theories and their adaptability into the systems of musical traditions, breathing patterns, meditative techniques, astrological calculations and the charkas system of esoteric knowledge of the east.
When I first stumbled upon this, I considered everything with extreme skepticism and used my logical as well as the creative side of intelligence to apply in my research work. The fascinating art of understanding micro-tones led me to a zone, quite unknown to many practicing musicians - âHealing Powersâ generated by the musical intonation, gestalt and psycho-analysis of each vibrational-frequency of a Tone or Micro-tone.
For example: - â A Whirring sound/ noise of a refrigerator can be inadvertently absorbed by a pregnant mother to the extent that the fetus inside her womb is actively absorbing minute vibrations as well. Whilst this is going on for a long period of say eight or nine months, the mother is quite unaware of the affinity the child is slowly developing with the Micro-tones generated by many such electrical and electronic gadgets around it and hence it absorbs, reacts and rebels against some microtones. Once the pregnancy arrives to the stage of near delivery date, the child is more and more acclimatized with such minute sound vibrations as well. If the mother happens to leave that area, to be with her parents or at a quieter place than her own, then the child feels the internalized rebellion within the womb, as it misses being around these sound vibrations.â
On another level of understanding, it has already been proven by many other researchers that cows give more milk while listening to particular kind of music or they fall ill listening to some types of music. Plants grow better in a certain area where they constantly absorb musical micro-tones and they wither off faster in other areas.
My mentor at school(CalArts), Susan Allen told me a funny story about her dog not liking her classical-conservatory style of Harp music, yet it liking the heavy metal music which her husband Jeff used to play for the dog. I have discussed these things with her in detail as well.
As far as the zodiacal vibrations are concerned, each zodiacal sign has a sub division of either 9 sections or 150 sections. The sub division of 9 gives us the star constellation and their names and how these are beautifully classified and in nomenclature. These vibrations generate, control and help evolve in the human consciousness, through a unique system which scientists have called the âGenome projectâ each Degree of the zodiac affects 5 sects of human creation and it deals with precision as far as gender is considered. The sub division of 150 for each sign is called Naadi-Amsa that corresponds to the Genome theory and has a very specific connection to musical micro-tones and the principle of Spiral of Fifths.
I have made an attempt to bring these together through a musical experience, by means of understanding âShrutisâ or the smallest intervals between notes. The North Indian musical system tells us of the fact that if we have a musical octave, then it would automatically have a Pitch to have a comparative element for the rest of the octave. This pitch or the Tonic has 4 micro-tonal intervals, as compared to the second and sixth degrees of the scale having 3 each and third and seventh having 2 each and the perfect fourth and fifth have 4 micro-tones each. Thus we come to a total of 22 Micro-tones within an octave. Ironically, these 22 micro-tones are compared to 22 sensory perceptions of human consciousness as well.
The connection I have made between musical, astrological and psychical vibrations (namely Chakras) is particularly in alliance with the spiral of fifths. For example: - Micro-tonal value of the first degree of zodiacal sign of Aries will have congruent properties with that of Leo (5th) and Sagitarius (9th)
So suppose you begin from C to C (on a musical octave or octaves.)
C, C#, D, bE, E, F, #F, G, #G, A, bB, B, C (An interesting thing to try here, would be to make tuning forks with these specific tonal values and try to make them vibrate near our being to see how it possibly can change our consciousness and state of our mind, body and soul.)
Now does the note that starts with the higher octave also have the same intervals? We have a new octave that starts from a point that is harmonically equivalent to #C but we âPresumeâ it to be C there is something called decibel difference in physics. It is often called the comma difference. : See, the first note C, think that it a cluster of many vibrations or frequencies but has one pitch. Frequencies and pitch are not the same. Frequencies mean definite oscillations, like at 16 oscillations, we hear clearly through touch only. There is no such thing as âwith no pitch or no sound at all.â
Pure tone is the tantalizing combo of both the definable and un-definable⊠just as soul. So coming back to C, it emanates natural harmonic which is a perfect fifth indigenously which is a G. called âSwayambhuvaâ meaning Self generating. G. (Perfect fifth of C)
That perfect fifth G note gives birth to Another Fifth, which is? D on the next octave but⊠mind you this is how the circle of fifth was erringly called a Circle and then later changed to a âSpiral of Fifthsâ higher than the second. Then A gives birth to E on yet another higher range or register of notes then E gives birth to B, B to F sharp⊠F sharp cannot give birth to C, so it gives birth to C sharp. Hence the next loop in the spiral would begin from #C.
This is called the comma difference, so we move the scale by that comma to make it appear a new scale synchronous to the first one. This is called C scale the western classical music system tampered with this to create a piano made it diatonic. All music isn’t Diatonic nor chromatic it is perfectly Micro-tonal: So the spiral would go like this C, G, D, A, E, B, #F, #C, #G, bE, bB, F, C, G and so onâŠ
This is only a gist of my work and is more elaborately explained in my website as well.

Chakras, Meditation, Yoga Postures and Micro-tonal Music:- Chakras’ activation through Microtonal Music-Shree Vidya
ABOUT Kundalini Chakras and Their Activation, Alignment, Attunement etcâ
I am from a very different tradition, that understands these terms and their functions from a different standpoint altogether. it is called Shree VidyaâŠor Inundation of divine splendourâthrough a classical treatise known as Soundarya lahiriâ Oceanic waves of beauty”
Since I studied and was initiated in the Thirteen Chakras system and understand the Microtonal aspect of Activation of all the chakras, I go by the nature of the Sound vibrations associated with each of them. (This is how my mother taught me and her Spiritual teachers taught as well)
1) Moola- Rootâ associated with the Earth element- has Sound Vibration LAMâ Three Musical notes from (Lower octave)bB to (Middle octave)#C to C, in a wave form.
2) Swaadhishthaana -Sacralâ Associated with Water elementâ VAMâ (Lower octave)B to (Middle Octave) D to C..all major notes.
3) Manipooraka - Solar plexus- Fire elementâ C - D- E all major and only in the Middle octave.. Sound syllable would be RAM or RUMMM.The Sky Element
4) Anaahata or Unstruck Soundâ Inner Sound- Heart Chakra- HUMMâEther elementâNote is Pure F, or Normal Fourth harmonic of C.
5) Hrit (IS THIS HEART)Chakraâ Minor Heartâ or Visceralâ Associated with Bliss factorâ The Tritoneâ One note only â Hreem.âF Sharp
(This is also the Beeja or Seed sound for being able to Transcend the influence of Maayaa of Illusion)
6) Vishuddha chakraâ Throatâ Sound Elementâ Airâ YAMâis the Beeja the Fifth Harmonic G is the syllable vibrating at
7) Laalana Chakra or Taaluâ Pallette of the Mouthâ Sound syllableâ Kleem bAâ Element of Meditation drawing nectar from the brain stemâCreative Artists have this flowing all the time
Aagnyaaâ Third eye or between the brows chakraâ AUM is the syllableâNote being A major.Element of “Inner Seeing”
- Show quoted text -
9) Fourth eye or Lalaataâ This is where we “SEE” through in Visions, Meditation, Aftermath of a meditation and Remote viewing etcâ Sound Syllable â Shreemâ Noteâ Middle Octave bB.
10) Golataaâor Guru Chakraâ Pineal Glandâ thru which we draw maximum energy inward in Meditation or Dhyaanaâ Sound syllable “Gloum”. Musical Note B Normal octave.
11) Induâ Left Brain or IDA Naadiâ Beeja Sound “Ham-saha”(B Higher Octave)
(The two way Breathing)
12) Maanasaâ Right Brainâ Sohamâ is the soundâ Musical Note B to C in the middle Octave reaching the higher C.
13) Sahasraaraâ or Crownâ has no Sound Syllable attached but the Breathing pattern called Cyclic Breathing through either the mouth or both nostrills simultaneously doneâ “Hamsaha-Soham”
Another method is:-
Now, this is how the Vibrational Healing Alignment is done with deep meditative state to be reached using the following method: Try and answer these to yourself, in as much detail as you can think/feel. (Use as little logic as you can, this is a hint.)
1) Align yourself with the earth element, which signifies and attaches itself with the sensory perception of SmellâMoolaadhaara.(Moola means Root)
2) Align yourself with the water element, which signifies and attaches itself with the sensory perception of TasteâSvaadhishthaana.(Swad âmeans taste)
3) Align yourself with the Fire element, which signifies and attaches itself with the sensory perception of Seeingâ-Manipoora.( manipooraka â fulfillment of Jewels)
4) Align yourself with the sky element (also called Aakaasha) which signifies and attaches itself with the sensory perception of feel/ hearâAnaahata. (Un-agitated state.) That is the sound we hear, which is not necessarily a result of two bodies striking each otherâŠcommunion sound⊠internal soundâAnaahata chakra.(Anaahata= Unstruck sound)
5) Align yourself with the ‘viscera’ or the Hrit chakra the element of being in an inner calm, feeling deeper love for all beings in the cosmos.(Hrit = Viscera)
6) Align you with the air/ether, which signifies and attaches itself with the sensory perception of hearing/touch. This hearing is physical hearing and the touch part is covered due to the air hitting us and we feel it touching us. (Tricky part.) Visshuddhaa chakra. (Vishuddha = Opposite of Pure)
7) Align yourself with the Palette where the yogis turn their tongue inward to touch this particular spot on the top side of the mouth and find the nectar dripping into the self from the brain stem. This mudra must only be attempted under a supervision of a good facilitator and is known as “Khechari Mudra.” Many yogis go for this chakra and achieve great success in the art of remaining without food or water for many days or months, called the Laalana or Taalu chakra.(Laalana = Pallette)
Align yourself with the mental faculty for meditation and deeper inward journeys to be taken by an individual and also receive or provide initiation in a spiritual journey. Aagnyaa chakra = Obedience.
9) Align yourself with the central most point in the forehead, called the Lalaata chakra. All clairvoyance and remote viewing start with the opening of this particular chakra, which is always saying these three states: I am there (X, Y or Z is there), maybe I am there/not there, and I am not there. This part is the activity happening in the human brain (different from mind), where in logical analysis is on one side and inadvertent/intuition-impulsion is on another side. The human brain performs these connections with anything internal or external than itself with the following analysis: â Thesis, Anti-thesis and Synthesis. Left- brain, right-brain and resonance, this is called the Lalaata chakra= Pituitary Gland
10) Align yourself with the Pineal Body. The maximum of our vital energy force is drawn by this faculty of our anatomical system, but very little has ever been said by medicos about this Pineal gland/body, which is the source of the five Praanaas (energy divisions). These help us respire, circulate, defecate, go erect and come down (Pressure), sexual activity including menstrual cycles and menopause, etc. The five divisions are: breath in, out, distribute, going up and down (feeling buoyancy or gravity), evacuate, banal/carnal pleasures-pains. Sensory perceptions of Praana or vital energy force, the living in all creations, creator, creation, is called the Golataa/Guru chakra = Pineal Gland
11) Align yourself with the pure divine energy at the level of perfect logical and analytical explanations for what the intellect leads you to inâ- absolutionâ BrahmanâSat-chit-aananda. Indu Chakra = Outer Light
12) Align yourselfâ Self onlyâ separate from God conscious (Maanasa chakra) right brain oriented, Spontaneous Kundalini awakening and paranormal experiences. The feeling of being a Multi-dimensional being.-Called Maanasa chakra = Inner Light
13) Bramhan, Saguna with qualitiesâ Not the original, but duplicate creator. Goal oriented manifestations of GOD into, “I become you.” Divided Pure consciousnessâ Sat-Chit- Aananda merges into the undifferentiated and un-manifestedâ without qualitiesâ Nirguna Brahman. Supreme Consciousness- Sahasraara chakra = Light-Sound-Matter become One unified energy.(Love does this)
This is how the tradition goes.
But these are not taught through books. It is given in a process of Initiation.
Part IV
HAMSAHA-SOHAM
(Meditation)
In the Indian esoteric methods the word “Hamsaha” was often translated as “The Great Swan”. In the upanishads it was also equated with the “Fifth” Praana or Element of “That which is Living within every being” This Fifth praana remains in our Body till we are completely disintegrated, commonly known to Humans as “Death”. A medical term called Death would mean, when both the Lobes of the human brain completely stop functioning.
The hamsaha-Soham:-
In the Kundalini Yoga system of Indian esoterism, there are 72000 Naadis or nerve centers. Of these only fourteen are really known to Humans. Of the fourteen, only three are taught in the Kundalini Yoga, being IDA, PINGALA and SUSHUMNA, which means, IDA being the LEFT Brain Lobe controlling the Central Nervous system, Pingala, being the Right Brain Lobe, controlling the Autonimic Nervous system, and Sushumna being the central canal of energy flow in the middle path of the spine, starting from the Root (Coccyxx) to the Crown (Soft spot on the head).
The Praana, was represented in the form of Ham as the Exhale of Breathing and Saha as the Inhale portion of ONE complete breath. But we assume that our Breathing system is just about a repititive Cycle of Breathing, consisting of Inhale and Exhale functions. Most of us think, that Observation of Breath is sufficient for Meditation and the Inhale-Exhale compose the whole of breath. The Breath being Praana or the “Living thing in all animated beings” This is not true. Because there is a third element within the Breathing system, which was a natural phenomenon given to human beings. This was the “With-holding” of the Breath (very essential point here) AFTER either fully inhaling or exhaling one complete breath. The easiest method to remember this would be a Cyclic breathing technique that follows this:-
HAM(Exhale) SAHA( Quick Inhale), SO (Long Inhale ) HAM (Quick ExhaleâŠand continuously doing this will make us drop all our attachments to the Physical realm and connect us to the Cosmic Grid of energy.
(Try to remember : HAM = Exhale fast, Saha is a Short squirt of an inhale,a brief pause, then Long SOâ (Soham) Inhale, followed by Ham, Small Exhale, followed by another HAM and so onâŠit is a cyclic breathing technique represented in the shape of “U Pin” bends on both ends of our breath.)
(Clarification here: Praana is neither the Spirit nor the Consciousness, it is the energy transference system) a Five-fold Praana system, is named quite appropriately as Praana, Apaana, Vyaana, Udaana and Samaana.. which would mean the Five functions of Breathing, , Circulating, Feeling bouyancy and Gravity, Evacuation and Oneness-Separation. When we have ONLY the Fifth praana left with us, we call it HAMSAHA or the Great Swan.
Originally human beings were designed by nature to Breathe very slowly, at the rate of 12 Seconds of Inhaling, 8 Seconds of Withholding (On each side of the breath..i.e. inhale and hold and exhale and hold) and releasing or exhaling very slowly at the rate of 16 Seconds or any unit of time. So it would come to a total of 12 + 16 + 16 units of breathing. Which is only 44â this number represents the two sets of 22 senses each for male and female in the created world
( Some traditions have taught this as a ratio of A=1: B=4: C=8 ( A= Inhale, B= Holding, C= Releasing).
12 Seconds of Breathing in, 24 Seconds of Holding, 16 seconds of releasing, then again holding up outside after exhale for 12 Seconds. This would mean the Exhale will be a faster billowing (CHECK SPELLING)of Air, with the creative visualization of the Seed mantra “HAM” Or more appropriately sounding like “Hummmm” ) A Total of 12 + 24 + 16 + 12 = 64 Seconds.
One other ratio would be 16 Seconds of each of these four stages in Breathing, i.e inhale, exhale and the two Holding points. So it would be 16 X 4 = 64.
But the heart “Presumably” has a specific rate somewhere around 72 beats per minute. So it would be wise to start slowly at a rate much faster, like 4 Seconds Inhale, 8 Holding, 4 Release and 8 holding for starters. (I will elaborate on the importance of the number 72 and how we activate our 72000 Naadis or nerve points by focussing on the 72 second breathing technique) When you can confidently control your breathing rate at 72 seconds or 64 Seconds of one whole breath (Inhale-Exhale and two Holds), then you are in the best possible synchronization with the Cosmic flow.
Make sure you Breathe from both nostrills and keep your Mouth closed all through this.
Try this preferably sitting in a DARK room, devoid of any external noise such as “the whirring of a refridgerator or a tubelight or the garrage door opening/ closing sound and of course all Telephones.”
Relax for fifteen minutes after doing this for a half hour straight. Do not increase speed or reduce it. Keep the comfortable pace all through the half hour you sit down and just Observe the breathing. You can take support of saying “AUM” for a second or any Word that resonates as a Sacred sound syllable to you.
(Of course Covering yourself in Unconditional Love, and Light before you start this sitting on the floor will be very helpful in getting some focus).
